A save-game edit cheat - By Simon Burrows
Okay, here's another old game I've driven through the hexxers,
and herewith enclosed are the results the hexxers' have chucked
back out at me!
Basically there are two options here:
i) You edit the section of the saved-game-data-file which tells
the game what stats to give your character when you choose
'new game'. By editing this you can turn the 'new game'
option into a cheat option which will start you a new game
with loads of gold and hit points to thrust upon your enemy.
ii) You actually edit a current saved-game (the second one down
on the 'load game' list [underneath 'new game']).
Whichever one of these you choose, the bytes you enter at the
required hex-adress in the saved-game-data-file are the same. It
can be anything you like depending on what totals you want your
gold and hit points to be set to. Here's my recommendation :-
0F 27 0F 27 0F 27 -> 9999/9999 hit points & 9999 gold pieces
WARNING: Do not use the maximums (FF FF FF FF FF FF) as this
seems to screw things up loads!...
The file you need to edit to make these changes is called RPG.SAV
Pop this up inside a hex-editor and do your stuff...
So finally we get to the hex adresses you need to edit. Which
one you want will depend on which of the two options listed at
the top of this document you want. They are as follows :-
for i) Hex 00
for ii) Hex 8E
Make sure that you only use the second option if you have
already saved a game, otherwise it will not work, but it will
screw up the file.
Note: not all of these cheats has been tested.
